Self-inflicted injuries. This is what currently has the Boston Celtics on life support. This has been the story of every playoff loss and a big part of each of their 3 losses in these NBA Finals. Heading into Game 5, you knew the Celts were going to have to keep their biggest problem under control. If they don’t take care of the ball, they’re done. So what did they do? They turned the ball over 18 times, which led to 22 Warriors points. They missed 10 FT. 10. One of the best FT shooting teams in the NBA left double-digit runs on the board from the line. I want to fucking die.

The Celts have only themselves to blame for the end of this game. After finally winning a 3rd quarter and taking control of this game, they fell asleep for the final blow and Jordan Poole changed all the momentum. The Celts then continued to go 2-12 for the majority of the 4th quarter without doing anything but turn it around. It’s losing basketball, so no wonder the Celts lost. Time after time they have fought and you even give the warriors a burst of life, that’s what happens. For the first time in almost 6 months, the Celtics have finally lost consecutive games. The worst part? Steph didn’t. He shot 7-22 (0-9). This is a game you MUST win. The Celtics’ inability to execute and take care of the ball once again led to another missed opportunity.

It started from the opening jump. The Celts spent the majority of the first quarter with 4 MGFs and 4 TOs. They only scored 16 points. You can’t beat the Warriors by scoring 16 points. And yet, despite looking pathetic in the opening 24 minutes, the Celts once again had a winnable game. All they had to do was show up for a 4th quarter, and for the second straight game they did no such thing. They only shot 4-15 (27%) for 20 points. All that momentum of the 3 for nothing. Instead, they once again played like assholes. I don’t know why they keep doing this when it’s very clear it’s not an effective formula, but they couldn’t resist. Because as incredible as Jaylen and Jayson were in the 3rd quarter, they were nowhere to be found in the 4th. Jaylen picked a terrible enough time to have possibly her worst game of the series. With the quality of his playing, it really stings. Considering these two are the two best players, that kind of closing performance can’t happen. In this last frame, they combined to score just 5 points on 2-9 shots with 3 TOs. Once again, it’s losing basketball.

So now here we go. Another epic comeback is going to have to happen if the Celts are to keep their season alive and give themselves a chance in a Game 7. That’s why you can’t mess around and waste your chances against the Warriors. That’s what happens. You had a night off with Steph and you couldn’t keep your shit together. 18 TO, 22 points off TO and 10 FT missed. What is this literal fucking? Seriously. What is that? How is it going at THIS stage of the season? With so much at stake? Completely unacceptable behavior from everyone involved.

The difference in balance has never been more evident than this game. Even after blowing. At 16 points ahead, the Warriors have never panicked. Every time the Celts made a run to take their lead to 4 or 5, they didn’t panic, they hit three. When things started to turn in fourth, they took care of the ball. The Warriors only had 1 TO in the last 12 minutes.

We will regroup in the morning. God was so frustrating to watch. The NBA title is on the line and you can’t handle the ball or make your FTs. Unbelievable.
