Despite news to the contrary, DMX is reportedly still on life support at a New York City hospital after overdosing and suffering a heart attack on Friday night (April 2).

On Saturday evening (April 3), DMX attorney Murray Richman admitted to having Rolling stone that he was “given false information” when he told PIX11 News from New York that the rapper had been removed from the resuscitation system and was breathing on his own. The 50-year-old MC is reportedly still in intensive care. His condition is serious but currently unknown.

Today has been a roller coaster of emotions for fans, friends and family of the beloved rapper. On Saturday morning, news broke on TMZ that X had overdosed, which resulted in a heart attack. He was reportedly rushed to a hospital in White Plains, NY and placed in an intensive care unit, the site’s sources claiming he may be “brain dead” or in a “vegetative state.” The hip-hop community has rallied around the prayers on social media, including frequent contributor Swizz Beatz, who noted on Instagram: “Let’s keep the vibes positive and the prayers high for my brother.”

A silver lining seemed to come when Richman, who has not confirmed the heart attack was caused by a drug overdose, announced a somewhat uplifting update on the news. “He was hospitalized with a heart attack,” Richman explained. “He’s been taken off the life support system, he’s breathing on his own, but we’re worried. It would be misleading of me to suggest that I’m not a worried man at this particular point.”

DMXX’s condition remains serious. XXL contacted the rapper’s label for comment.
