Life style by Lia Crowe with Kande Whitehouse – Victoria News

I meet Kande in his beautiful living room on Oak Bay Avenue to discuss life, style and passion.

Born in Chad and raised into a very large family, Kande has spent most of her adult life in Canada but has a passion for traveling the world. From a young age she fell in love with hairdressing, but especially loves those transformative moments that happen every day in the salon.

“People feel good about themselves and it gives me infinite satisfaction to be a part of this process. “

Now that she has so many successful years in business behind her, I wonder what the best life lesson she has learned is.

“Courage is rewarded,” she replies. “It took courage to open the show and make it a success. Courage can be as simple as saying ‘no’ – ‘no’ to things that don’t work for me as a businesswoman, or saying ‘no’ to going out when I don’t feel like it. It’s something that was much harder to do when I was younger.

Outside of work, Kande is passionate about travel, good food and exercise.

“I pay attention to anything that makes me happy. My favorite place in the world is Tokyo and I travel there a lot; it sounds strange but it’s my zen place. It’s the biggest city in the world but it’s so quiet and organized and the food is spectacular.
