Biography of Ainsley Maitland-Niles

Ainsley Cory Maitland-Niles was born on August 29, 1997 in Goodmayes, England. His parents are Maitland-Niles (father) and Jule Niles (mother). He was born into a black British family whose origin is Africa and the Caribbean.

He was raised alongside his older brother, Cordi Fletcher. Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ mother raised Cory and Cordi on her own. He didn’t reveal much information about his father.

Ainsley was interested in football from an early age. He joined Arsenal academy at the age of six. He started out playing for the squad’s Under-18s before moving on to Arsenal’s Under-21s in the 2013/2014 season.

On October 24, 2014, the player signed his first professional contract with Arsenal. Less than two months after Ainsley Maitland-Niles contract, he made his professional debut on December 9, 2014 in the UEFA Champions League.

He replaced Aaron Ramsey at halftime in a 4-1 win over Galatasary. This makes him the second youngest player to represent the team in the Champions League after Jack Wilshere. Four days later, the player made his Premier League debut. He replaced Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in a game against Newcastle United.

On July 2, 2015, he joined Ipswich Town on a one-season loan during the 2015/2016 season. Ainsley Maitland-Niles transfer ended after making 32 appearances and scoring twice in all competitions. Eventually, he returned to his parent club.

He later joined the England Under-19 team in the UEFA European Under-19 Championship, which saw the team reach the semi-finals of the tournament. After that, he moved to England Under-20 and on September 1, 2016, he scored his first goal in a 1-1 draw against Brazil Under-20.

In May 2017, the player was called up to the England squad for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea. He came on in the 75th minute of the match, where he won the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup as his side beat Venezuela 1-0. It marked England’s first Under-20 World Cup victory.

On August 29, 2020, Gareth Southgate called him to the senior England squad. He has been called up for UEFA Nations League matches against two teams, Iceland and Denmark. He made his squad debut on September 8, 2020, where he came on against Denmark.
