The good news, however, is that the Raptors have a few days to regroup, heal, and take it all home on Saturday in Game 4.
Scottie Barnes (ankle) will likely be back for Game 4, according to head coach Nick Nurse. We miss him sorely, especially on the defensive end, since he was injured in the first game of the series.

The battle for Ontario
Only a few weeks have passed since the launch of Ontario’s regulated online gaming and sports betting market, and some data is now available to assess how operators are doing in the market. Morgan Stanley, an American multinational investment bank, has been collecting data since the April 4 launch and has released some interesting numbers through April 19 via email.
It appears that theScore Bet, which is owned by Penn National Gaming, had the most downloaded app with a 35% share, followed by bet365 (27% share), FanDuel (16%), BetMGM (9%), Betway (4%), PointsBet and BetRivers (RSI) (3%) and Caesars/888/LeoVegas (1%).

It’s no surprise that theScore, which is based in Toronto and whose brand is recognized in the region, is popular with Ontarians. The company’s hit sports news app has around 4.5 million monthly users, and many of those users are likely to download theScore Bet as well. The two apps are now harmonized, allowing users of the sports news app to quickly type and place a bet if they have also downloaded theScore Bet. TheScore Bet does not have a desktop version of its platform, so all user engagement will be done through the app.
The report notes that bet365’s revenue share could be even higher, as the previously gray operator had around 35% of the sports betting market before the April 4 launch, then moved many of those customers to its Canada app. .
A FanDuel communications manager said Sports handle On Thursday, they took the historic step of going to market with purely responsible gambling advertising.
“This has never been attempted anywhere in the world and we are very proud to have delivered a safer gaming message at a key time in the acquisition and to still rank among the top three operators in the market,” she said.
Early data from GeoComply Ontario mentioned in the report suggests the market is heading for $1.1 billion GGR in 2022, and location checks rank fifth behind the US states of New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Michigan.
Sports handle also obtained a report on the first projections of the Ontario market to April 19 from Barclays Capital. Data from the company’s Canadian app shows theScore saw a 24% share of downloads in the first 10 days since Ontario launched legal online gambling, with bet365 at 24%, FanDuel at 20 % and BetMGM at 11%. He also notes that DraftKings has yet to hit the market and should be popular with Ontarians.
The report also includes data on the time spent in the various apps available. Barclays Capital has found bet365 and Betway, another previously gray operator in Ontario soon to be licensed in the province, leading the pack.
It could be some time before the actual Ontario market revenue figures are released. Sports handle recently asked iGaming Ontario when and how the data would be released, but was told that its revenue reporting plan would be released later.
It is also important to note that just because users download these apps does not necessarily mean that they open accounts and deposit large sums of money for betting purposes. It will be interesting to see the conversion data as it becomes available.
More Operators Coming to Ontario
Another group of operators is expected to be fully licensed in Ontario by April 25 and could be operational in the province shortly, according to an industry source.
This week, NorthStar Gaming and Betway received licenses approved by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and can potentially go live once they both reach operating agreements with iGO.
NorthStar Bets, which has an integrated content partnership with TorStar Corp., launched its social media accounts this week and is now taking pre-registrations, suggesting a launch is imminent. TorStar Corp. is a Canadian mass media company that owns the Toronto Star and many other newspapers across Ontario.

According to the aforementioned Morgan Stanley report, Betway accounted for the highest percentage of iGaming smartphone app downloads and sports betting in Ontario on a monthly basis in 2021.
As of Thursday afternoon, 13 operators – and 21 iGaming sites – are now active in Ontario. It’s unclear how many carriers could launch next week, but up to 30 brands could be live in Ontario by the end of May.
DAZN plans to launch betting brand in Ontario
Sports entertainment group DAZN Group is intend launch a DAZN BET brand in Ontario this year.
DAZN, a 100% international sports streaming platform, is partnering with Pragmatic Group, a provider of platform technology and content to the gaming industry, to help launch the betting platform.
“The convergence of sports media and betting is the future. This historic partnership brings together the leader in sports media and a technology partner committed to developing innovative experiences for fans. This underscores DAZN’s commitment to revitalizing the sports viewing experience by providing a broader spectrum of digital entertainment for fans,” DAZN Group CEO Shay Segev said in a press release.
Segev is the former CEO of Entain, the company that owns betting brands BetMGM, bwin, party and Ladbrokes.
Some reports indicate that the brand could be live in Ontario by the end of the third quarter of this year.
