Paragon Space Development Corporation (Paragon) is proud to announce that Northrop Grumman has finalized its contract with Paragon worth over $100 million for the Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO) life support system. HALO will be deployed to lunar orbit as NASA’s first lunar gateway crew module. HALO will serve as both a habitat for the crew and a docking station for spacecraft that will regularly travel between Earth and the Moon.

As part of the Northrop Grumman team, Paragon is responsible for the design, construction, testing and delivery of the HALO Environmental Monitoring and Life Support System (ECLSS), which provides a livable, safe and comfortable environment for crew members visiting the Lunar Gateway. . Paragon’s ECLSS will safely and reliably purify and condition the atmosphere by continuously maintaining air temperature, removing trace contaminants such as carbon dioxide and odors, and controlling oxygen and humidity. The HALO ECLSS will provide all necessary operational data to the crew and mission control needed for monitoring and operating – operations that are expected to span more than 15 years.

Based on the terms of this contract for which efforts began in 2020, the Paragon/Northrop Grumman team will work on a critical design review in Q2 2022 with an expected delivery of the HALO module to the launch site in 2024. .
