The “K-life style USA” event took place on Friday at American Dream Mall, a popular New Jersey mall. The event showcased Korean consumer products including cosmetics and food products.
“I have been using Korean skin care products extensively for five to six years,” said Christina, an African American who was trying Korean cosmetics. “They are better than American cosmetics.” Christiana, who runs an online store herself, said she was visiting the event to take a look at Korean cosmetics she plans to sell.
The event was organized by the North American office of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, or KOTRA, to support the export to the United States of 53 Korean consumer products, including cosmetics, food and fashion products. This is indeed the first Korean product exhibition to be held in New York since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Cultural events also took place on the sidelines of the exhibition, including a K-pop singing competition, a fashion show, a taekwondo performance and a gugak (Korean traditional music) concert.
“This is the largest major event among the Asian events that have taken place in this mall,” said a director of the American Dream Mall who co-hosted the exhibition. “The Korean products on display here are world class.” He added that the event demonstrated the power and uniqueness of the Korean people to Americans.
