This little one surprised everyone when she made her big debut.
Looks like it was yesterday when the girl from The young and the restless‘Melissa Ordway and her husband Justin Gaston arrived five weeks (and a whole year) earlier. But it wasn’t yesterday, and little Sophie will be 4 on December 9. The past four years have been a journey of light and love, and it is only just beginning. Browse the photos yourself and you’ll see little Sophie go from an adorable premature baby to a confident little lady.
Ready or Not
Ordway celebrated Sophie’s third birthday in 2020 by remembering her birth and marveling at the way this little cherub was growing up. Although she was not due to come until January, little Sophie was eager to join her family in the world.
Merry christmas eve
Sophie arriving early meant she had an extra Christmas! She won’t remember that first vacation, but thanks to this adorable, festive family pic, we sure will. “From our family to yours,” Ordway wrote with all the offspring.
Read with dad
Story time takes on a whole new meaning when you have two parents who are actors. They really get into the roles. “And I was like, you better not,” Gaston told the puzzled Sophie. “You better not.”
Someday all of these posts will make a great story for their daughter, parenting nerdness and everything. “Good 8 months, Soph,” Gaston wrote. “I love you more every day. (Like she has Instagram and is going to read this. Someday she will see Justin. Are you talking to yourself? Yes. Stop.) “
All the smiles (just now)
At 11 months, Sophie’s personality began to shine. “You are the tiniest cheerleader I have ever seen,” the proud mom wrote, “cheer, clap and smile for life! “
Sophie’s early period style was clearly influenced by her father. Or maybe we should say that her father was influenced by her since, as he wrote, they coordinated outfits, “aside from the headgear, which I always look for in my size.”
Speaking of cheerleading, Ordway started teaching her daughters which team to cheer on whenever she could! Focusing on the game, however, hasn’t always been a priority. “Yes”, confirmed mom, “one of my daughters is pulling my other daughter’s hair while she eats a soccer ball …”
Pretty in pink
By the time she had reached 15 months, Sophie had already developed a list of likes. Running, singing and reading were at the top of the list. Just like making people laugh. Or, as Ordway said, “Malicious would be the best way to describe our little love.
Racine, Racine Racine for the reception team
Soccer isn’t the only family sport Sophie enjoys. There is also baseball! Even if, it must be said, she seems a bit young for having swallowed “several hot dogs, a bag of peanuts and a helmet full of ice cream”. But hey, a growing girl needs her food!
“This photo describes Sophie perfectly,” Ordway wrote, “my happy, clumsy daughter.” And really, that’s all we need to know as we release an “Awww” collective.
Being away from mom and dad can be a big change, so it’s important to bring a friend to help with the learning. Plus, like mom said, “That little smile… I can’t.” We neither.
A moment frozen in time
Mom captured a perfectly adorable moment of passionate attention as Sophie watched the stage with her doll, ready for her first theatrical glimpse with Disney’s Frozen.
Diary of a princess
Anna and Elsa aren’t the only Disney princesses Sophie loves. “You can always find Sophie in a princess nightgown over her clothes,” Ordway explained. “Today her name is ‘Baby Ariel’.”
Sophie and her older sister Olivia have learned how important it is to support each other throughout their lives. “Proud of their hearts,” Ordway explained, and “how much they love and support each other and their friends”.
The sisters teamed up when planning their father’s party. The unstoppable duo “chose party hats, decorations and the cake… ballet slippers!” Because what is a party without a little ballet?
School: Take two
It was now time to learn big girls, as Sophie joined Olivia in kindergarten. Having grown up a lot, the little news from the neighborhood swapped her adorable bunny for a princess backpack. But she kept smiling!
Sophie was able to bring herself to her mother’s level on this “cool autumn night”. And if this photo doesn’t make you nostalgic for the simpler moments with your family, we don’t know what will.
funny sunday day
Ordway kept his caption short and sweet and let the photos of his daughters do the talking. And you know what? We will do the same.
In his genes
When the whole family came out to honor Gaston’s father, “Paj”, who had passed away three years earlier, Sophie showed her family resemblance. “Sophie is a clone of you and your father,” Ordway told her husband. “The look she’s making is proof of that.”
Queen of styles
Sophie has come a long way since her days in princess nightgowns. But then it was clear then that she knew what she liked. Or, as her proud mom shared, “Sophie has found a style of her own.”
And now, here we are today, as her mom shares a mini-walk through Sophie’s life and colorful, joyful photos of the special day. “We love you more than you could ever know,” Ordway wrote.
While Ordway might only love one man (and his two adorable daughters), Abby has always taken a … slightly different approach to relationships. So before you go, why not take a look at How? ‘Or’ What different in our gallery recounting the many, many loves of Abby Newman.
