zelenskyy: New comic on the life story of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

A new comic telling the life story of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was released by TidalWave Comics on May 18, 2022. Titled “Political Power: Volodymyr Zelenskyy,” the comic is part of a series about political figures and The politicians.

The 22-page comic tells the extraordinary story of Zelenskyy – from being a comedian to a warlord now. It is noteworthy that as an actor, Zelenskyy previously played the role of a president in a fictional program called “Servant of the People”. The show was highly appreciated by the public; he later won Ukrainian elections and came to power in 2019. At the time, he promised to end a war with Moscow-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine. He had no political experience when he took office as the country’s sixth president,” Reuters reports.

“Political Power: Volodymyr Zelenskyy” is written by Michael L. Frizell and illustrated by Pablo Martinena.

Speaking about the book, writer Frizell said, according to TidalWave Comics, “It was a tough storyline to write. The editor and I wanted to focus on the man beyond the current media attention – the war of Ukraine with Russia and Zelensky’s battle of wills with Putin. Who is he? What makes him tick? Why is he the right leader for Ukraine right now? These are the things that interested me when I started researching.

Meanwhile, illustrator Pablo Martinena has already drawn biographies of famous personalities like David Beckham, Nelson Mandela and others.

Sharing his take on the new comic about Zelenskiy’s life, publisher Darren G. Davis said in a statement, “This book means a lot to me because of my Ukrainian heritage. Both sets of my grandparents immigrated from Ukraine.”

Part of the sale of the comic will be donated by the publisher to support the International Red Cross in Ukraine. “I wanted to use this medium not only to tell a story, but also to donate to the cause at the same time… It doesn’t hurt that Volodymyr Zelenskyy has a compelling story.”

It should be noted that Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine will soon end in three months.
